During the 'summer vacation' I volunteer at my local library to tell stories.
Young children : 'active' stories keep young children entertained with actions and movements along with the words or at key points in the story. I try to introduce a bit about culture and location of countries whose stories I adapt, before getting into the tale. I believe the little children enjoyed these two adaptations of Japanese folktales very much :)
